I put a video up on my Facebook page yesterday, and when I posted it, I had no clue that it was going to go viral. In the 24 hours since I posted it, the video has had half a million views and was shared more than 1,300 times.
My heart was pounding when I hit ‘post’ because it is always scary to share things that make you feel vulnerable, but reading through the comments and seeing everyone tag me in their own #ownit moments makes me feel really glad I got brave enough to click that post button. I hope you get a chance to watch the video and share it too, my hope is that this message can really help a lot of people. These two simple words have really changed the way I talk to myself, and have done a lot for my own self confidence. #ownit
Here is what I wrote when I first posted the video:
I’m sharing with you guys in this video something that used to make me feel really vulnerable, but I’ve recently started telling myself that I am just going to own it, and instead focus on positive things that I do have the ability to change. Simply telling myself those two words (own it) repeatedly over and over has done so much for my own inner self confidence.
I’d love it if you would share with me YOUR #ownit moments (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, my blog, etc), and how you have gotten past something that used to bother you (could be physical, emotional, mental, etc), and now you can proudly say that you #ownit.
“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” – Brene Brown
If you like this video, feel free to share it! 🙂

I get why it makes you vulnerable, but you are amazing…and you look amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I will never forget something that happened to my mom once when I was about 12. We were at this beach, and my mom was a pretty hot lady, so this younger dude was chatting her up (hysterical, her and my dad have been together since high school, but she was loving it of course, who wouldn’t?!). Anyhow, he told her he liked her “sun streaks”….which were actually stretch marks on the tops of her boobs, and stretch marks don’t tan. He had no clue, and I know my mom wasn’t necessarily proud of her stretch marks….but she wasn’t going to run around in a granny bathing suit because of them!
You are amazing! Thank you for making this video. It really made me feel better and to appreciate what god has gave me. I do not like my stomach but after seeing your video I will own it!! Thank you again.
Pretty! This has been an extremely wonderful article.
