I don’t always love exercising…..but this is why I love my morning runs or my morning workouts. Because it’s one of the only times during the day I don’t feel like a professional dish washer, family maid, taxi driver, or cook…. It’s usually the only time during the day where I can clear my head, have time for myself, and start to plan out my own personal goals.
It’s 45 minutes of the day I’m not interrupted every 15 seconds with “mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama, moommmmm, moommmmm, moommmmm”
It’s one way I build my true, inner self confidence. And that has very little to do with how I look in the mirror. My self confidence has been built very slowly, through goal setting, and keeping my word. By setting achievable goals, and then actually achieving them, and proving to myself that I. Can. Do. It. That I am enough, that I am capable, and that I can allow myself to dream big.
It makes me feel strong knowing I have built muscles that are strong, developed, and capable to do do more than lift weights in the gym.
It’s when I write my most heartfelt posts….usually in shorthand form in the notes section of my phone and then I fill in the blanks and complete the sentences later.
It’s when I feel like I can set all the other labels that describe me aside: mom, partner, caretaker, business owner, sister, daughter….the list goes on and on. I can take a little bit of time and just focus on building me.
Allowing myself a little bit of time each day to focus on personal growth, I have learned, has made me better in all the other roles I fill in my life.
That is my why. That is why I spend a little bit of time each day to focus on myself. It builds my confidence, builds my strength and helps to build my future goals.
It changes my reason for working out from negative (wanting to lose weight, not being happy with how I look, etc)….. to positive. Positive motivation is much more long-lasting than negative motivation, I promise.
I may not be the strongest or the fastest. I may not be the prettiest, or the smartest, or the funniest….and that is ok. But I am each day, baby steps at a time, working to be the best version of me. ♥️♥️
