How to Battle the Bloat

Bloating is an all too familiar reality for many of us, especially us ladies. Dietary and hormonal fluctuation can wreak havoc on our digestive systems. While occasional bloating is not something to be concerned about, it is also not something we have to live with. Here are some tips and tricks to help reduce overall bloating.

  1. Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can significantly affect your bodies ability to process and digest the food you eat. When you’re drinking enough water your body is able to properly process everything and flush its systems.
  2. Keep moving. When we're bloated we often don't feel like ourselves. It can be tempting to ditch your workout routine when you're feeling bloated, but don't! Staying active is one of the best things you can do to help your body regulate itself.
  3. Incorporate superfoods into your diet. I've recently started adding Turmeric powder to my coffee in the mornings and have noticed it has really helped with my bloating (even that “time of the month” bloating). Turmeric has amazing anti-inflammatory properties as well as so many other great health benefits. Check out my video about this here.
  4. Try supplements. There are tons of probiotics on the market that help with digestion and bloating. My personal favorite digestive supplement is MRM’s Digest-All. Digest-All is made of plant based enzymes that support digestion and aid our bodies naturally occurring digestive enzymes. You simply take 1-2 capsules before each meal  (or as otherwise advised by your personal physician) and it aids your body as it processes the food you eat.

These are just a few tips to help you battle bloating. We all deal with it, but we can certainly minimize its presence in our daily lives. If you try any of these tips and find them helpful let me know!
