The Most Amazing Salmon Recipe

We eat salmon a lot in our home and so I am always experimenting with different marinades and flavors. This gets my vote for my absolute favorite way to eat fresh salmon. It adds just enough mild flavor without masking the taste of the salmon (because I get asked this a lot…if you buy wild fish instead of farm raised it doesn’t have a very ‘fishy’ taste to it).

The recipe is so simple.

Turn your grill onto medium heat (temp around 300). Spray the grill with non-stick cooking spray. Cook salmon filet (unseasoned) flesh side down for 4 minutes. Carefully flip over and then cook skin side down for for 10-12 minutes until salmon is cooked in the center. Add dill Greek yogurt glaze during last 5 minutes of cooking. Add the sliced red onions on the grill the same time you put the salmon on and flip halfway through the cooking time.

Dill Greek Yogurt Glaze:
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
Lemon Juice (to taste – I used about 2 Tbsp)
Fresh Dill (to taste)
Note: if you don’t have fresh dill you can use dill seeds instead which you will find in the spices section of your grocery store (1-2 tsp will be enough).  The yellow flower/seed part of the fresh dill plant has the most dill flavor.

And, just in case you wanted to see an awesome video of us catching this same wild salmon last month, here ya go.  Don’t forget to Pin this recipe (Pin button at the bottom of post) so you can remember it later!

  • I tried this idea tonight, and it was really yummy! My kids even ate it, and they are pretty picky little eaters. Thanks for the dinner idea, too bad I don’t live anywhere near a place to go salmon fishing because that looks like a ton of fun. 🙂
