Last week I randomly stumbled across this really cool National Park just about 20 minutes from my house. I was so impressed with the park and our family will definitely be doing some camping here in the near future. The visitor center they had was really impressive….apparently there are TEN ecosystems in the Big Thicket! It was so cool because you would walk and see pine trees, you would walk a little longer and see magnolia trees and holly bushes, then walk a little further and see swamps where there was almost an everglade feel, then walk a little further and you would see sand and cacti. I was just blown away that this amazing landscape was so close to home. While we were on the trails I decided to do a leg workout while we were walking. My 4-year old little man filmed for me, so I apologize in advance for the shaky and sometimes ‘distracted’ video. We had a blast though, and he was able to work on his counting while I was doing the leg workout.
I was carrying my 23lb 12-month old in an Ergo carrier on my back, but you can do this weightless or with dumbbells in your hands for resistance. This was filmed in the Big Thicket National Reserve in Kountze, TX but you could do this in your backyard, living room, or even the park. If you try this workout, let me know what you think in the comments below!
