I am a mom to a three-year old little boy (9/09) and a 1-month old little girl (3/13), a wife to the best husband, and a SuperStar Director with a company named Scentsy that allows me to work from home.
I was a collegiate cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track athlete for Albertson College of Idaho. After college I continued to run off and on, but not competitively.
I delivered a beautiful, healthy, 10-lb baby boy in September 2009. After he was born I was so thrilled to be a new mom and loved every aspect of it. The one thing I didn’t like, however, was the fact that I had gained 60 lbs when I was pregnant. I lost about 20 lbs immediately after my son was born (10lbs of baby, 10 lbs of fluids, etc) but didn’t lose a single pound for about 5 months. I would try to avoid mirrors and would always stay as covered up as possible when we were getting pictures taken. I was really happy in so many areas of my life, I just didn’t like how I looked, but I wasn’t really making an effort to change much in regards to my diet and activity levels. I realized that I am the kind of person that likes to have a goal, an end date, and a deadline. So, I decided to start signing up for some road races. I joined a local running group and had a lot of fun with it. My husband and I had a deal that while I was running he would watch the baby. I really looked forward to having some alone time, and when I was running it was sometimes the only time in the day that I wasn’t dealing with spit up or dirty diapers. I really started to look forward to my daily run as a break from my normal routine.
I was able to lose a lot of the weight by running, but I still never looked very fit or toned. I still had a really soft tummy and backside and I honestly thought the only way I was probably ever going to look good again was to have some kind of surgery (which we probably would never be able to afford) after I was done having kids. I never realized that you could totally transform your body through a clean diet and weight training.
I have been a long distance runner for most of my life. In the past, this would help me to lose weight, but I never really looked very fit or toned. I found out about Jamie Eason’s LiveFit trainer from a friend right before the program originally launched in August 2011 and it completely changed my approach to training and nutrition (and it’s a free program!). The program taught me that it’s not all about “calories-in/calories-out” but that the quality of the food you are eating, and the timing of when you eat your meals is just as important.
I used the LiveFit trainer to teach me the basics of proper training and clean eating. I think that about 80% of my results from that program came from being consistent with my nutrition. I wish that 5 years ago someone would have told me that if you can cut out your processed and pre-packaged foods that your body would look so much better! I have provided some of my favorite recipes on this site for you to try for free too!
I have my bachelors degree in History from the College of Idaho and worked in outside sales after college.
I am luckily enough to get to work from home as a SuperStar Director with Scentsy and stay at home during the day with mykids. I mentor a group of over 1,200 people in the US, Canada, Germany, UK and Ireland. If you’d like to find out more about my Scentsy business, work with me on my team, or order Scentsy as a gift or for yourself you can check out my Scentsy website by clicking HERE (www.nh.scentsy.us).
